Headlights come in all shapes and sizes, and can either make or break a vehicle’s looks and lines. After all, they are called the “eyes” of a car. That said, wouldn’t you like the eyes of your car to be a perfect match? This is where OE lights come in. An acronym that stands for original equipment, these are lights that are specifically designed by the manufacturer for use on a specific model and product year. What are the advantages of equipping one of these, and what are the things you must take note if you’ll buy one of these?

The advantages of equipping original equipment manufacturer headlights

1. Proven performance- Being parts that are developed together with the car itself, pending proper installation, you are virtually assured that it’s going to perform well. What’s more, because they are usually made by the manufacturer itself, you are assured of both compatibility and durability, 2 things that you don’t get a guarantee on with aftermarket lights.
2. Superior fit- OEM lights are guaranteed to fit into your car provided that it matches the model and year of your car. Because they are designed for the vehicle itself, you won’t have to worry about modifying the electrical system, the mounts, or the bodywork to make everything work.
3. Increases your car’s overall value- How does installing stock headlamps increase the value of your ride? Having all original parts markedly increases the value of any vehicle, especially if you own classic cars. Not only does it increase the amount of interest your car will generate, but its originality would simply be off the charts.

What you need to take note when buying OE lights?

1. The model and model year of the car- Just like any original equipment, you must check first for compatibility before even thinking of making a purchase. Buy only equipment that matches that of your car, or else you might risk looking stupid because you purchased something that won’t fit your car.
2. Where you’re going to buy it- Ideally, you would want to purchase your original parts from the car maker itself. There’s a good chance that they have stocks of brand new replacement parts. But if that option is not available, you can always buy one from a third-party supplier. However, check the quality first. If it’s not a brand new/reconditioned original or a brand new replica, make sure that they it fits your car and performs well when used.
3. Instructions on how to install it- If you want to do installation of headlamps, it is best that you know what to do. You can consult the instructor’s manual for additional information or you can search DIY articles online. But if you cannot find one or feel like you don’t have the skills for the job, you can always hire someone with the experience and know-how to get the job done.

OE headlights can bring out the best from your car. They may be underrated by some, but their value simply cannot be denied.
