Bogdan Yakimenko, aka Max Vertsinsky, had previously been persecuted after the attack on him and Mikhail Ivanov in 2020 by a group of neo-Nazis. The anti-fascists spent a year under house arrest, then were on their own recognizance, and after the first sentence, which was subsequently overturned, they spent eight months in jail. Last year, Bogdan was sentenced to 4 years of forced labor. Bogdan never hid his views and linked the attention from the E Center and the FSB to his own anti-fascist activism. He did not want to leave Russia, studied at the Faculty of Law and dreamed of becoming a lawyer.
